The LWID elections have come and gone  with the general election in November.  Congratulations to Marita, Dave & Paul on their reelection and thank you to  Pete and Jeff for their interest in running for the offices also.  Several issues have come to the front and are being addressed through this process.  The board is looking into what their best options are for getting the minutes of the meetings to us in a more timely manor with a broader outreach than just the local weekly newspaper.  We can expect to hear from them soon as to their course of action.  They are also looking into the voting process -- how more of our neighborhood can participate.  It seems any change will require legislative action.  Our representatives are being contacted and the state statutes are being researched to determine how to write a bill.  I personally would like to have a community wide mail out ballot so every owner can vote, not just full time residents.  LWID is under state statutes that are universal for all the 20 some Improvement Districts through out Kansas.  I’m not sure if any of the other Improvement Districts have the same logistics that we have here with so many of you living in other communities.  It is the state statutes that determine that our board consist of 3 members and that they are all up for reelection in the same year.  They serve 2 year terms.
